Graduation Spotlight: Yaw Boateng

Yaw Boateng

Major: Electrical Engineering

What made you choose this area of study?

I chose this area because electrical engineering has a lot of room for individual design and ideas once you understand the fundamentals. I also made traffic lights with an Arduino first in ninth grade so that helped.

What is your favorite thing about engineering?

Its very fun when you get it right and understand it.

Why did you choose CWRU?

Because of think[box] and the opportunities it offered me to interact with other tinkerers.

Were you involved in activities outside of class? If so, what were they and why did you get involved?

I worked at think[box] as a student technician for two years because I wanted to develop the hands on skills for engineering outside of the classroom.

What's your favorite thing about CWRU or your favorite memory?

Larry lab. This class was a practical deep dive into circuit making and that has prepared me for the real world of engineering.

As a graduating student, what's a piece of advice/encouragement you'd like to share with current students?

Decide early on what you want to study in college if not try as many things as quickly as possible.

What are your post graduation plans?

After graduation, I'll be working at Tektronix for the summer.
