Graduation Spotlight: Kush Idnani

Kush Idnani

Major:  Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering

What made you choose this area of study?

The dream is to be a design engineer in F1. Since F1 is like aerospace on the ground it was the best way to take a step towards this dream.

What is your favorite thing about engineering?

Being able to look at everyday objects, big and small, and make an attempt to understand their workings. Such as being able to look at a plane and predict its flight characteristics.

Why did you choose CWRU?

Gave me the option to study aerospace alongside mechanical engineering in an intellectually challenging environment which I love. I also spoke to some great incoming freshmen that solidified my decision.

Were you involved in activities outside of class? If so, what were they and why did you get involved?

Case Aeronautics Team! I was encouraged by some fellow classmates and the team to join, but I stayed because of the extremely welcoming team of incredible engineers who made sure to help me get involved as soon as I could.

What's your favorite thing about CWRU or your favorite memory?

The people. I have met some of the smartest and kindest people I know here, and it’s also what makes me the saddest about leaving.

As a graduating student, what's a piece of advice/encouragement you'd like to share with current students?

Live. Your grades don’t define you. Take time off and go and have some genuine fun. You can make up for a bad midterm, but you can't make up for lost time in college. Focus on studies, but not to the point it consumes you. Experiences (both academic and not) matter more than grades, always!

What are your post graduation plans?

Work in the US for some years before getting a master's in aerospace.
