CWRU 2nd year student receives recognition from ASCE Cleveland

The American Society of Engineers (ASCE) recognized Adele Hartt as winner of its RePicture-ASCE Cleveland Contest. Adele is a 2nd year student from Weston, MA. She is pursuing a career in site civil/land development. At CWRU Adele has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and she sings with Solstice acapella.

Adele’s project was a RePicture profile of Rodanthe “Jug Handle” Bridge, which provides reliable access to the barrier islands of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Adele discussed the role of this bridge as a response to the changing environment and shoreline of NC. She wrote of the challenges of constructing this bridge in the shallow water of a protected ecological zone, as well as the unique aspects of this bridge design. RePicture is a virtual community that promotes education and networking among engineering students and professionals. See Adele’s award winning project here.

Projects for RePicture were completed in conjunction with ECIV 260 Surveying & Computer Graphics, a course taught by Professor Katie Wheaton.
